Urinetown

PEP Productions presents

Urinetown, the Musical

February 24 – March 3, 2007

Maroondah Secondary College Theatre, Ringwood

Synopsis:
Well, hello there. And welcome to Urinetown, where water has become so scarce that the government has banned private toilets, forcing the townspeople to pay to use privately-owned public amenities. Admission is high, creating tensions between those who can afford the privilege to pee and those who cannot. But when the powers-that-be push their prices beyond the reach of the city’s poor, the idealistic Bobby Strong stages a revolution that will change the community forever.

With its offbeat script and wickedly funny score, Urinetown debuted on Broadway in 2001 and went on to win three Tony awards. Dealing with ideas of freedom, power, and limited water resources, the show is both wildly entertaining and particularly topical for a contemporary Melbourne audience. So book your tickets now for PEP Productions’ first venture: the Victorian amateur premiere of Urinetown, the Musical.
